Harry tribute to Di

Princess’s sisters at christening

- Amy Sharpe

Prince Har ry and Meghan’s baby son Archie was christened yesterday in a poignant c e remony which honoured Princess Diana’s memory.

Proud parents the Duke and Duchess of Sussex opted to exclude the press and public from the baptism at Windsor and refused to reveal the names of Archie’s godparents.

But the royal couple released two official photos, which offered a glimpse of how Prince Harry made sure his late mother would be remembered.

Princess Diana’s older sisters Lady Jane Fellowes, 62, and Lady Sarah McCorquodale, 64, were among 25 guests at the intimate event.

They also featured in the only two photos released to the public – and were positioned directly behind Archie in the same picture, in a nod to his late grandmother.

Harry and Meghan posed with Archie on a couch almost identical to the green and gold chair Diana sat on in the same room with Harry following his christening in 1984.

Harry, who was left heartbroken after Diana died in a car crash in Paris when he was aged just 12, is determined to include his aunties in Archie’s life. They are understood to have been among the first people he told following the birth.

The official family portrait, taken in Windsor Castle’s Green Drawing Room, shows the royal tot with his parents, as well as grandparents Prince Charles and wife Camilla, who arrived by helicopter, as well as maternal grandmother Doria Ragland and uncles and aunties Prince William and Kate – along with Diana’s sisters.

The second image is a tender black- and- white image of Meghan wearing an all-white Dior dress, tenderly pressing her chin against Archie’s forehead as Harry leans in towards his wife and son in the castle’s Rose Garden.

Fashion photographer Chris Allerton, who took their wedding photos, captured the special event and the photos were posted on the couple’s Instagram account.

Archie’s great-grandparents The Queen and Prince Philip were not there – despite attending the christening of William and Kate’s eldest son Prince George in 2013.

The Queen was understood to have had a prior engagement.

And Meghan’s dad Thomas Markle, 74, who has still not met his grandson, was also missing as his rift with the Duchess continues.
