Fans right to hit the boos

McPake: I’d have joined jeers

-

Dundee gaffer James McPake says fans were right to hurl abuse as his side suffered a third straight defeat.

The Dark Blues were jeered off the park after

Stephen Dobbie snatched injury-time victory for Queens.

Dee’s Danny Johnson had looked to have done enough to earn his team a draw when he stepped off the bench to score in 93 minutes.

But the Doonhamers grabbed al l three points 11 seconds later to pile more misery on their opponents.

That sparked a chorus of boos but McPake – who must now lift his troops for next weekend’s hazardous trip to Arbroath – admits he would have vented his anger too had he been in the stands. The gaffer said: “I fully understand where the

fans are coming from

– this result is definitely not going to get them on side.

“I totally get why they were booing at the end.

“If I were a fan I’d be doing the exact same thing.

“We got back into the game and looked like getting a point. But let’s not kid ourselves – we deserved nothing.

“To concede 11 seconds after equalising is a suckerpunch. It was a moment of madness.

“It’s cost us dear but we made lots of errors today.” Allan

Johnston’s team began well and took the lead on the half hour. Darren Brownlie fed skipper Dobbie who ghosted past a couple of defenders before rifling in a 20-yarder.

Johnson thought he’d nicked a point with a strike from just outside the box.

But Jordon Forster got caught on the ball and Dobbie cashed in by dinking over keeper Jack Hamilton.

Palmerston boss Johnston said: “We set the tone early and caused them all sorts of problems. I couldn’t have asked for more and it would have been a travesty if we’d dropped points.”
