Gran claim to inheritance

-

When my gran died, her estranged son arrived back from America and took over. He claimed everything fell to him as he is the eldest. But there is no will and gran has two other children, one of whom is my mum. Who inherits? The law of intestate succession applies here if there is no will. Once all debts and liabilities are met, the children share everything equally. That’s assuming your grandad predeceased your gran and she did not remarry. Speak to a solicitor.

Norman Glass was hit with a £65 excess baggage charge as he headed to Spain on a golfing holiday.

He and 13 pals had paid up front to check in their clubs but he was stunned when BA insisted his hand luggage did not meet regulations.

Norman, of Kaimhill, Aberdeen, said: “My bag was under 10kg and fitted in the cradle. But the member of staff at Aberdeen Airport insisted that as I had two pieces of luggage, I’d have to pay for one. It didn’t make sense as I’d already paid to put my golf clubs in the hold.” He called BA after the week in Malaga but he got nowhere and contacted me. Norman said: “We returned via London with no problems.” I got on to BA. It initially stuck to its guns, then as a gesture of goodwill, offered a £65 eVoucher off future travel. A spokesman said: “Mr Glass’s golf clubs were checked in as his checked bag allowance but unfortunately, the bag he wanted to take on board was larger than we permit. However, as a gesture of goodwill we have offered the eVoucher.”
