Alloa hauled themselves off the foot of the table with a late winner from Kevin O’Hara.

The Wasps flew into a twogoal first-half lead before Queens clawed level but O’Hara hit the vital clincher.

Boss Peter Grant said: “We showed fantastic character to win. It doesn’t matter getting off the bottom, it’s at the end of the season when it counts.

“However, I was sick of us

being described as the best football team in the league but bottom of the division.”

O’Hara netted the visitors’ opener from 12 yards after a mistake from Queens’ Darren Brownlie in the eighth minute teed up the ball for him.

Robert Thomson made it 2-0 six minutes later when his downward shot battered into the turf and looped in.

Sub Jack Hamilton pulled a goal back in 52 minutes when he bundled home at the near post. And just before the hour Stephen Dobbie made it 2-2 with a swerving shot from the edge of the box.

Nine minutes from the end O’Hara made sure of Alloa’s win when he rammed in a close-range effort.

Queens boss Allan Johnston said: “To not get at least a draw is a sickener, especially after fighting back to 2-2.”
