Cops are told man found at star’s car was investigator Gers striker ‘chased down partner’s sleuth in his flip-flops’
Rangers star Alfredo Morelos’s Lamborghini was targeted by private detectives hired by his wife, police have been told.
A man arrested in connection with an incident involving the Ibrox hero handed himself into off icers amid speculation that the Colombian’s supercar was
sabotaged. The Army veteran said he had been asked to launch surveillance on the vehicle by the player’s pregnant wife Yesenia.
He told officers she gave him access to the car outside their Glasgow apartment minutes before Morelos found him crouching behind its bumper.
The striker, who was wearing a top, shorts and flip- flops, then chased the suspect while filming him on his phone. The drama happened last Tuesday at 8pm.
A source said the 29-year- old man decided to “give his side of the story” and present himself to the city’s Helen Street police office after being concerned at rumours about the incident spreading on the internet.
It had been claimed that Morelos caught an intruder attempting to cut the vehicle’s brakes.
The man served in the armed forces and performed a specialist reconnaissance role within the Army.
It is understood he was preparing to place a tracking device on the £100,000 Italian supercar.
The investigator was interviewed by officers in the presence of a solicitor advocate and charged with breach of the peace.
A source said: “He was worried about the things being said between fans online, particularly the idea that someone was attempting to harm Morelos by cutting his brakes.
“After taking legal advice, he thought the best thing to do was hand himself into police and give his side of the story.
“He has told officer she is a professional investigator who was hired by Morelos’s wife.
“The police thanked him for coming in and taking this responsible step.”
Morelos, nicknamed El Bufalo by fans, is Rangers’ star player, valued at more than £20million.
The striker played in yesterday’s league game against Aberdeen after serving a three-match suspension.
He has been linked with a move away from Ibrox after spending almost three years at the club.
Yesenia is pregnant with the couple’s first child and posted images of her showing off her bump two days after Tuesday’s drama unfolded.
It is believed they are expecting a girl after an Instagram comment from a relative spoke of her “beautiful niece”.
The couple, who married in 2016, live in a luxury apartment overlooking the River Clyde.

Huracan was taken away on a low loader after the incident and examined for any evidence of foul play.
The source added: “It’s been a hard few days but hopefully things can now be cleared up quickly.”

The reigning Miss Colombia told fans she’d never forget “moments spent together” with the 23-year-old.
Mum- of- two Mar ian made there marks in a Q& A after footage of her kissing the Colombian international emerged online.
Quizzed on her favourite moment with Morelos, she told her 114,000 Instagram followers: “All of them were magic and unforgettable.”
She also hinted she’d like to get close to Morelos again and said: “I can’t say from this water I will never drink. We never know, let’s pray.”
The comments caused fury in their South American homeland.
Marian alleged she began seeing Morelos after he contacted her on social media.
Police Scotland said Morelos’s car was not damaged in the incident.
A spokeswoman added: “A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an al leged breach of the peace following an incident involving a vehicle at a secured car park in Glasgow on Tuesday, January 28. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal .” It is understood Morelos has been informed of the statement the man gave police.
Private investigators can rake in thousands of pounds in cases where spouses hire them to follow their partners.
Investigators often use tracking devices while carrying out surveillance on targets. They can be bought online for as little as £50 but advanced models cost much more.
They can provide pinpoint accuracy on where a vehicle is located and can give alerts when it is in motion.
A tracker is fitted with a strong magnet, which is normally attached to the car’s chassis. It sends a signal to a mobile phone or laptop from which the controller can track where the car is travelling from miles away.
Their greater availability has led to criminals using them to keep tabs on their rivals.
Steven “Bonzo” Daniel was hunted down by a group of men who were able to find his whereabouts because an electronic tracker had been fitted to his car.
He was attacked by men using machetes in May 2017.
Morelos has been at the centre of controversy since his arrival at Ibrox for £1million from HJK Helsinki in Finland in June 2017.
He was sent off f ive times last season and has beenen red-carded twice this campaign.
His most recent bout of ill discipline saw him make cut-throat gestures to Celtic fans when he was ordered off the pitch at Parkhead on December 29.
Rangers have previously said Morelos hass been “singled out” for abuse and claimed that the striker has been the subject of racial hatred.
The star has set up the Alfredo Morelos Foundation, based in Colombia, which helps children living in poverty.
The striker has represented his national side and has scored one goal in eight appearances. He has scored 76 goals in 12626 appearances for the Light Blues..
