city gears up For batmobile battles THE PARK KNIGHT

New bat film’s appeal for us cars

We already know the Batmobile is on its way… now makers of the new Batman movie have sent an SOS for a supporting cast of American-style supercars in the blockbuste­r.

Film crews are scheduled to shoot scenes for the latest Dark Knight adventure in Glasgow later thismthism­onth. Production executives­executiv have now appealed to car enthuenthu­siasts to get in touch.

Fans are eagerly awaiawaiti­ng filming to start in the hope it wwill be their first opportunit­y to catchcat a glimpse of the new Batmobile.

Following an appealappe­a on social media, owners were quickqu to show off their cars.

Offers included a Ram 1500, Cadillac EscaEscala­de EXT, a Ford MustangMu and an 80s-80s style Ford pick-uup truck.

In a post on FacebookFa­ce page AmericanAm­er Muscle Scot land, Jim GlenGlen, manager of NYPNYPD Car Hire (Scotland), wrote: “Wanted: US cars for upcoming movie in Glasgow.

“Looking for US- spec cars for upcoming movie being f i lmed in Glasgow.”

Crews are looking for cars manufactur­ed from the late 80s to modern day.

Shooting for the film has already begun in London.

Cars selected must be available for filming in Glasgow on February 22 and 23, as revealed in the Sunday Mail last month.

The Batman has been written and is being directed by Matt Reeves, best known for his work on the most recent Planet of the Apes sequels.

British star Robert Pattinson, 33, plays the lead role of billionair­e Bruce Wayne and his alter ego.

He follows in the footsteps of Ben Aff leck, Christian Bale, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer and George Clooney in taking on the role.

Irishman Colin Farrell has joined the cast as The Penguin, Zoe Kravitz is Catwoman, Paul Dano plays The Riddler and Andy Serkis is butler Alfred Pennyworth.

Scotland’s biggest city will play a starring role in the upcoming production and par ts of the city will be transforme­d to look l ike Batman’s f ictional home Gotham City.

A source said: “Anyone who has a big American car would love to see it in a Batman movie.

“It’s a small claim to fame that would be even better if it’s involved in a chase with the Batmobile.”

The Warner Bros film is expected to arrive in cinemas in June 2021.

Screen Scotland said: “Screen Scotland provides a confidenti­al locations service to film and TV production­s looking to f ilm in Scotland.

“This means we are unable to comment on discussion­s about specific production­s.”

A spokesman for Glasgow City Council’s film office said: “We’re in constant contact with film and broadcast production­s of all sizes to see how we can attract them to Glasgow and help them whi le they’re here.

“This seems to work well, so I am sure we will continue to see these production­s coming to the city in the future.”

NYPD Car Hire (Scotland) did not respond to our request for a comment.
