Ash hails McInnes’ quality

-

Aberdeen defender Ash Taylor hopes their display at Ibrox proves to the doubters that Derek McInnes is still the right man to be in charge of Dons.

The defender was outstanding alongside Scott McKenna at the back in the draw with Rangers. McInnes was slated by a section of his own support after last week’s stalemate at St Mirren. But Taylor says their form in Glasgow shows Del shouldn’t have anyone questioning him. He said: “Of course he’s the right man for the job. What he’s done for this football club is fantastic. “He’s brought it on leaps and bounds. You’ve got to stick with it because you’ll always have your tough times at clubs.

“I felt we did enough to win the game today. We had the better chances and we’re coming away disappointed that we don’t have three points. “We’re putting in some really good performances, it’s just about finding that final bit now. We need to put the ball in the back of the net.

“It’s going to come and hopefully that will be on Wednesday night against St Johnstone.”

McInnes was delighted with the performance but frusrtrated at their misses. He said: “If you get a clean sheet at Ibrox with the talent in their dressingroom, you know you’ve done a lot of things right. “We had bags of effort and concentration with Rangers always asking questions. “Sometimes when you don’t take them it can be demoralising for the players but we never let our heads go down.

“It wasn’t perfect as we didn’t win but it was a good display, we deserved the draw.”
