As Audrey had her cancer treatment, which included surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, she set up a blog – Cancer with a Smile – where more than 7000 followers kept up with her breast cancer journey and the reasons she found to keep smiling.

She also turned to the charity Breast Cancer Care – who have since joined forces with the charity Breast Cancer Now – forfo support.

WhWhen sheh heardhd theth charity was looking for anyone who had been through a diagnosis of breast cancer to take part in their biggest annual fundraising event, the Breast Cancer Care Scotland Fashion Show, she nervously applied to become a model.

She describes the fashion show as one of the best experiences of her life and says she gained great confidence from it. Audrey added: “Life after cancer is a very strange place to be.

“Everyone expects you to feel like you want to celebrate but you’re left feeling a bit lost.

“Breast Cancer Care helped me to come to terms with what I’d faced and taking part in the show was such a massive confidence boost. It really was one of the most fun and exciting things I’ve done. “It taught me I could be confident even when my legs were shaking.

“And what makes it so magical is the other models you meet. Being in the company of people who just understand what you’ve been through when facing breast cancer is incredibly confirming and empowering.”

After taking part in the show, Audrey decided to enrol in a year- long course in Glasgow to become a yoga teacher. Now, as she teaches yoga on the other side of the world, she wants to encourage other women – and men – who have been touched by breast cancer to apply to take part in this year’s fashion show.

Applications for the rebranded Breast Cancer Now Scotland Fashion Show are open.

The char it y is looking for 24 people who have had a diagnosis of breast cancer and would like to become a model to show you can still look fantastic and feel confident after being affected by the disease.

Audrey said: “There is nothing you will ever experience like stepping on to that catwalk, in beautiful outf its, with other models who understand the fight you have been through, and with a room full of people showering you with love.

“Every single one of us who did the show – from the most shy and nervous to the most confident – loved the experience and treasure the memory of being a star for a day.

“You’ ll never get this chance again so stick your fears in your pocket because we all know life can be short.”
