Sending off cost us points

- Ross Pilcher

Guillaume Beuzelin believes Hami lton would have beaten Hearts had they kept 11 men on the park.

Accies got off a dream start, racing two up against their relegation rivals after just 16 minutes thanks to Marios Ogkmpoe’s brace.

But Jamie Hamilton’s sending off – his third in 12 appearances for the club – after 20 minutes gave Jambos the route back into the game they were desperately seeking.

Hamilton was adjudged to have handled the ball to prevent Liam Boyce racing in on goal and was given his marching orders by Kevin Clancy.

In the end, they couldn’t repel Hearts’ second-half bombardment for long enough. Jamie Walker’s early second- half goal meant they knew what was coming and their resistance was broken four minutes from time when Craig Halkett headed in the equaliser.

The result leaves Accies a point above Hearts at the foot of the table.

However, No.2 Beuzelin believes it should and would have been four but for the dismissal.

He said: “Today we made sure we had a reaction to the Abedeen defeat. We were 2-0 up and deservedly so but once again the massive turning point in the game is a red card.

“We got a point but I’m sure with 11 v 11 we could have won.

“It’s a ball over the top and Jamie defended it well.

“He’s anticipated it and is first on the ball as good centre halves do. It’s hard to judge for the ref whether he’s touched it but he made the call. I can’t complain about the red card.

“Then we concede early in the second half and we say, ‘Here we go, it’s going to be one of those days’.”
