Marc is perfect match

-

Jack Ross reckons he has unearthed Hibs’ new star strike partnership.

The Easter Road frontline was plunged into disarray on deadline day as Florian Kamberi jumped ship to join Rangers.

But Marc McNulty arrived on the same day from Reading and Ross believes he can make a big impact in the capital alongside Welshman Christian Doidge.

He said: “We needed another striker and it was imp or t a nt we got somebody in with the quality to improve us.

“Marc fitted the bill perfectly – his attributes meant he could link up with Christian.

“You want to see your new recruits hit the ground running and making an early contribution can massively help a striker’s confidence. It can become a burden on their shoulders if a striker joins and doesn’t get off the mark quickly.

“Marc has scored four goals in five games so I’m delighted for him.”

Having lost just once in eight games since the winter break, Ross’ men have turned their form around and look set to book a top-six place.

But today they visit in-form Kilmarnock who last week all but ended Rangers’ title hopes with a 2-1 victory at Rugby Park.

Jack added: “Kil lie’s recent results have been great. I’m pleased for Alex Dyer as he’s a nice man.

“It’s going to be a tough game but it should be a really good spectacle.

“Most of our games have goals in them and it could be the same again.

“With this number of games in a short time you’re asking for a lot from the players and staff.

“Naturally, being in decent form helps when you’re dragging them into work every day.”
