We’ll try to catch ‘em cold

-

Neil Lennon admits his pre-match prep for Celtic’s assault on the Europa League knockout rounds won’t start until tomorrow.

But they’ve been running the rule over Copenhagen all winter in a bid to catch them cold.

The Danes returned to league action on Friday after a two-month break, filling in the time with a tournament in the Algarve against Norrkoping, Astana and AGF Aarhus.

And the Hoops boss said: “We’ve had Copenhagen watched.

“We can try to catch them cold – but whether we do is another thing.

“Zenit were in the same boat two years ago but they were a strong team too.

“We won’t take anything for granted. We’ll have a full report that we’ll get stuck into from Monday.

“You can’t look too far ahead when we have so many games.

“We’ve been enjoying the domestic stuff. There’s momentum and a quiet confidence about us.

“The domestic games have been the priority – Aberdeen will be a tough away match so we’re not getting carried away.

“First and foremost it’s about winning. And then after that it’s about adding more goals.

“Against Hearts in midweek the players clearly didn’t want to take their foot off the pedal.

“That appetite and desire is sometimes inbuilt in players.”

Lennon also believes he has more strength in depth now than at any point in his managerial career.

His subs against Hearts – Ryan Christie, Tom Rogic and Moi Elyounoussi – are all game changers and he admitted: “They’re players who change a game or get you a goal. That was one of the strongest benches I’ve had in my time.”
