We are win it together

was due to unrest within their Dubai winter camp.

But assistant boss McAllister rubbished the rumours of a fallout and pointed to the way Gerrard’s men fought back brilliantly to secure a 3-2 first-leg win over Braga as proof that the squad is united.

He said: “I can say that, absolutely 100 per cent, there was no unrest in Dubai. It was fantastic for us, it went really well.

“Thursday night proved our togetherness. It’s just there, you can see it.

“All that talk is par for the course at a big club. The best way to put all that to bed is to get results and go on a run again.”

Burns, who played for Gers in the 1980s, made the claims after the Ibrox side threw away points against Hearts, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock following the winter break. That allowed Celtic to open up a 10-point gap at the top of the Premiership table and Burns told Rocksport’s Talking Football Show: “I’m led to believe something happened in Dubai behind the scenes.

“I’ve heard things went on in Dubai that shouldn’t have gone on.

“There’s a bit of unrest there right now and you can see it. There’s not a togetherness there.

“I don’t know if it was just with the manager – but things went on that shouldn’t have.”

But as he prepared for today’s Premiership clash with St Johnstone in Perth, McAllister said: “A lot of questions have been asked of us but in that last 25 minutes against Braga, when we started the comeback, you could see a fantastic togetherness.

“There’s a lot of character here. Our mentality has been questioned but it takes a lot to come back like that and turn a result around in that manner.”
