Charity’s appeal to help girls in India

-

A charity which has saved the lives of thousands of destitute children in India is raising funds to empower girls in the country.

Scottish Love in Action (SLA) is launching its Hear My Voice Appeal today, International Women’s Day.

The campaign is backed by Scots crime writer Val McDermid and Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq.

SLA is working with Indian partner VOICE for Girls to help vulnerable girls remain in education.

Konnie, who will present SLA’s message on today’s BBC Radio 4 charity appeal, said: “It’s so important to make sure the girls have a bright future.”

Val added: “Education opens doors for individuals and for change in society.”
