Clean up with job at royal palace
The Queen is looking for help to have a spring clean at her Scottish palace.
There is a part-time job “aiming for the highest standards” available.
The post wi l l include lending a hand at state events at Holyrood.
Paying £ 9700 a year for 20 hours a week, it includes a pension.
The job description says applicants must: “Use your enthusiasm and passion to deliver the exceptional.
“Joining our professional team at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, you’ l l upkeep, clean and care for a wide range of interiors and items, ensuring they’re presented to their very best.
“Learning from your colleagues, you’ll gain the specialist professional skills needed, always aiming for the highest standards.
“And on occasion you’ll support functions and events at the castle too.”
Holyrood Palace, at the bottom of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, has served as the principal residence of the kings and queens of Scots since the 16th century.
The Queen spends one week in residence at the palace at the beginning of each summer, where she carries out investitures, hosts a garden party and entertains 8000 guests.
There are 289 rooms in the palace to keep clean and dusted, including the 140ft-long Great Gallery.
The palace also has 387 windows and 51 clocks.
