A devastatin­g hat-trick from Greg Morrison nudged Brora Rangers ever closer to title glory.

The former Ross County kid was in inspiratio­nal form as the Sutherland side ran out 4-1 winners at home to rivals Wick Academy.

Player-manager Steven Mackay said: “We lost a poor goal from a corner in the second half but otherwise it was a fairly straightfo­rward win in the end.

“We know we still have a good bit of work to do if we are going to win the championsh­ip.”

Brora’s opener came after 10 minutes when Morrison pounced on a great through ball to finish superbly.

The second was a 30-yard piledriver after 35 minutes.

Wick ’ s Sam Mackay claimed a deflected finish from a corner just after the hour, but Morrison pounced to complete his hat- trick close in after a red card for Jack Halliday.

Elsewhere, Steven Ross smashed in all four goals for the Jags in a 4-2 triumph for Buckie Thistle over Huntly.

Jack Brown and Steven Anderson Harrison gave Rothes full points in a 2- 0 win over Formartine United.

A Cammy Keith hat-trick gave Keith a 3-1 win at Strathspey, despite Ross Naismith opening for the hosts in the first half.

Forres Mechanics ran out 3-1 winners at Deveronval­e, while Turriff United edged out Lossiemout­h 2- 0.

Fort Wi l l iam’s ultras didn’t attend their clash with Nairn, parents or no parents, after a waterlogge­d pitch postponed the game.

LOWLAND LEAGUE ROUND-UP

Civil Service Strollers ended their worst run of the season by holding title-challenger­s Bonnyrigg Rose 1-1.

Craig Newall had fired Strollers in front at New Dundas Park but substitute Jonny Brown’s f inish salvaged a point for Rose.

Strol lers boss Gar y Jardine said: “We had to work hard but that was a lot more like the team I know.”

There was anger as the relegation battle between Va le of L ei then and Dalbeattie was called off 45 minutes before kick- of f against both teams’ wishes.

In the South Challenge Cup Ruari Paton netted a hat-trick as East Kilbride beat Camelon 5- 0 at K Park, while Caledonian Braves were dumped out 1- 0 by Dunipace.
