We chanced our harm

-

Hearts boss Daniel Stendel rued the missed chances that heightened the incline on their steep survival bid.

Chris Long’s first-half strike for Motherwell was cancelled out by Conor Washington’s leveller after the break.

But any enthusiasm at getting a point against the Premiership’s thirdplaced team to cap a week that saw wins over Rangers and Hibs was short-lived. And that’s because a late penalty for Hamilton meant they lost two points on their main relegation rivals.

Looking to a sixpointer against St Mirren on Wednesday, Stendel said: “We did not really play with patience when we had chances to play ahead.

“They had chances, we had two big chances but when you see the other results one point is not enough. We need to keep going. Wednesday is the next big game.

“You can help players in some situations but this is a hard time for everybody on the pitch.

“After half- time, we scored early and it was good. Then we were too nervous, too early with long balls. The idea was a little bit different.”
