Saudi in coup-bid arrests
Saudi Arabia’s de facto ruler has had three senior royals arrested over claims they were plotting to overthrow him.
King Salman’s brother Prince Ah medb in Abdulaziz and princes Mohammed bin Nayef and Nawaf bin Nayef were accused of trying to stage a coup against crown prince Mohammed bin Salman.
They could now face life imprisonment or even execution.
Previously, crown prince Mohammed, 34, has jailed religious figures, political activists, royal sand business leaders.
He was globally condemned over the murder of outspoken journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018.
He has also been unpopular because of his country’s five-year military intervention in Yemen and problems with the economy.
