ANDI SLAMS VIRUS CALL
Israel boss Andreas Herzog has branded his enforced quarantine as ‘stupid’.
The Austrian fears the move could harm his side’s chances against Scotland in the Euro 2020 play-off semi-final at Hampden.
Herzog was placed in isolation when he arrived in Tel Aviv on
Thursday to begin the preparations for Hampden.
But he has been confined to his apartment in the city until March 19 as Israeli authorities desperately attempt to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Talks have begun to try to reduce Herzog’s period of quarantine and he said: “We must wait and see what the outcome of those discussions are.
“You just have to make the best of it and see the positive in every situation, no matter how stupid.
“I want the best possible preparation, two weeks of isolation is far from ideal.”
Israel technical director Wil li Rut tensteiner’s quarantine since February 27 will end on Wednesday.
Herzog is aware of the prospect of games being played behind closed doors due to the epidemic but he hopes Hampden is full for their visit.
He said: “It could be an advantage for us but a ghost game in such an important match is not fun, I don’t want that.”
