Wilder: Hendo will grab an England chance
Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder last night insisted Dean Henderson is ready to pull on the gloves for England.
On- loan Manchester United goalkeeper Henderson pulled off three stunning saves to earn his 10th clean sheet of the season for the Blades.
United secured a 1- 0 win over Norwich thanks to Billy Sharp’s strike.
And Wilder said: “We will all be very surprised if Dean’s not named in the squad and we will be surprised if he doesn’t get an opportunity.”
Allan Saint- Maximin eased Newcastle’s worries as Steve Bruce’s men moved eight points clear of danger with a 1-0 win at Southampton.
The Magpies had failed to score in their last four top-flight outings but Saint-Maximin’s 79th-minute goal saw off Saints who had Moussa Djenpro sent off in the first half.
Bruce said: “It was hard going but I think we deserved it.”
Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson hailed goalscorer Jordan Ayew as the Eagles brought Watford back down to earth after last week’s stunning win over Liverpool with a 1- 0 victory.
Hodgson said: “He has shown his worth. Jordan has got stronger and I’m delighted for him.”
Wolves’ top-four hopes suffered a damaging blow after they were held to a dull 0- 0 draw by Brighton.
Solly March wasted the best chance for Brighton when he shot over.
Seagulls gaffer Graham Potter said: “We didn’t come and park the bus. We tried to play.”
