Capital tops list as most expensive city in country for those after a bag of chips
Norman Silvester Edinburgh is officially the most expensive placep in Scotland to buy a bag of chips.
A survey off Britain’s late-night eating and drinking habits also found that a portion of fries in the capital was the second most expensive in the UK, costing an average of £2.16.
That was 43p3p dearer per bag than Londonn and 37p more than Glasgow.asgow.
Chips in the university town of Cambr idgee were the dearest in Britainain at £2.19 a bag.g.
The steel city of Shef f ield was the cheapest at £1.26 per poke.
The surveyey by onl ine pharmacist treated.com also found the citizenstizens of Edinburgh paid the mostt in Britain for a kebab – an average of £7.50.

Liverpool at £ 44.26, with a kebab costing GlasweGlaswegians an average of £ 5.46.
However, the capital was good value for a ttakeaway pizza at £6.43 for a 12in margherita. TheTh same pizza in GlasgowG cost £6.64 and the most expensive was in London at £10.99 a portion. “The majority of these food types represent l ittle or no nutritional benefit.”
The researchers priced the chips, kebabs and pizza from the same city centre restaurants and takeaways.
They also found that Edinburgh was the most expensive place in Britain for a medium glass of red wine at £5.65 before Friday’s closure of pubs and restaurants.
Glasgow was the cheapest at just £ 4.13 for a 175ml measure.
London was the dearest for a pint at £5.60 and the most expensive for a glass of white wine.
The UK capital was also the most expensive for a taxi at £20.72 for a four-mile journey. Edinburgh was £12.30 and Glasgow £15.84.
