I can still land top Trumps
Judd Trump raced into snooker’s history books this season – only to warn his rivals he’ll still look to “pick up the pace”.
The world No.1 last month became the first player to win six ranking titles in a single season.
But the 30-year- old world champion said: “Hopefully over the next couple of seasons I can really pick up the pace.
“I’d like to keep on target for some more records by the end of my career. But if not I just want to win as many tournaments as I can for somebody of my talent.” Simona Halep says there is a silver lining to Wimbledon being off – she can be champion for two years not one.
The call was made this week to cancel the Grand Slam for the first time since World War II.
She said: “I take it positively because I am now the defending champion for two years. I have to live with that for one more year so that is a good thing again.”
The Romanian insists it is right sport took a back seat and added: “It’s a world problem and it’s safer everything got cancelled.” Bruce Mouat says thoughts of what might have been taking to the ice today now pale into insignificance.
The 25-year-old could have been playing in the World Curling Championship Final in Glasgow this afternoon.
Mouat believes the showpiece was “going to be the highlight of our careers”.
But the Scot said: “A few weeks on it seems like a different world as we are now dealing with the reality of this global pandemic.
“It puts everything into perspective and certainly makes your priorities very clear.”
