Missing Celtic is worst part of my Gunners dream

-

Kieran Tierney gets called the Roadman in the Arsenal dressing room but it feels like it should be the Down the Road Man for the former Celtic hero.

The Hoops fans’ favourite hasn’t let a wretched run of bad luck dent his spirit, yet admits it has been tough living far from his first love.

Tierney finally made the breakthrough in London having shaken off injury concerns following his record £25m move – before bad luck struck again when he dislocated his shoulder.

He was on the comeback trail and targeting the run in – now football has been shut down altogether.

The Scotland ace said: “I miss everything about Celtic. And I always will. I am grateful for every second I spent playing for the club.

“Leaving Celtic was the hardest decision I’d ever had to make and I knew I would always miss Celtic no matter what happens in life.

“But the chance to play for Arsenal was a challenge that when I heard of it, I was just looking forward to it.”

Tierney still keeps tabs to get his Hoops fix and he can also rely on his mum delivering food parcels when she pops down south.

The 22-year-old – taking part in an Arsenal Q& A – said: “My mum brings me Scottish food down, so the main thing I miss would be the square sausage.

“But just being away from my family and friends is probably the hardest part.

“I’d been with my parents and seen those people every day of my life.”

Tierney is trying to keep fit but also enjoys fondly looking back over his time with Celtic. He packed a lot into his time at Parkhead, including playing a key role in landing the treble Treble.

But there are a couple of stand- out moments he’ll never forget.

Tierney said: “I have two favourite Glasgow derby matches. One would be winning 5- 1 at Ibrox because a scoreline like that doesn’t happen every time in an away game.

“The next one would be winning the league against them at Celtic Park which is self- explanatory.”
