Eil ish McColgan fears her running record could still be rewritten – because of drugs cheat s t he authorities will catch up on.

The European 5000 metres silver medallist is gearing up at her Colorado base for what athletics chiefs hope can be a shortened Diamond League season.

World Athletics president Seb Coe last month warned those tempted to use doping substances during the pandemic, when testing is trickier, they will be caught.

And McColgan said: “It sounds a bit depressing but the way our sport is now, you are better off not being too focused on positions.

“You don’t know what others in the race are doing – people get caught now for drugs fully six years after the event. There are people cheating and that is just the way our sport is.”

Scotland skipper Kyle Coetzer fears Covid-19 will stump the entire cricket season – including the Twenty20 World Cup come

October. Last Thursday Cricket Scotland ditched July’s Edinburgh series against New Zealand.

And Coetzer, 36, said: “I’m certainly a bit concerned about the World Cup. More than likely it will be pushed back. But the small positive is we’ve already qualified.

“We know we’ll be going when it is staged.

“And it’s likely we’d have more cricket than we would have done going into the tournament because everyone will want to play games when that is possible again.” Singapore Grand Prix promoters have ruled out holding their Formula One race without fans, casting further doubt over it going ahead in September.

A spokesman said it was “not feasible to conduct the race behind closed doors”.

F1 plans to start its stalled season in July with races behind closed doors in Austria and at Silverstone.
