Exciting Kap fits the bill at Fontwell

- ■ Joe Punter

Topkapi Star (2.45) looks like another talented young charge for the Amy Murphy yard.

The trainer rocketed to prominence with the heroics of Kalashnikov and may have another decent kid in her care with this juvenile.

This is a hot little Fontwel l contest with some exciting types in the mix but Murphy’s yak has experience having won first time up.

Topkapi Sta r wasn’t fancied on debut at Uttoxeter but he travel led nicely and showed a willing attitude to battle home in front.

There are a couple of short ones who should be winning elsewhere on the card.

EASYRUN DE VASSY (3.50) must have a huge chance for the brilliant Paul Nicholls with Harry Cobden in the plate.

The same jockey also rides

EMPRIENTE RECONCE (1.40) for former farmer turned top trainer Colin Tizzard.

There’s good Flat action at Musselburgh and it is such a shame that we can only see the eight-race card on TV.

However, there are still a couple of bets worth having. The best would be an each-way poke on SPRING BLOOM (3.30) if you can get odds which will make you a profit for a place.

Karl Burke’s ace is super consistent and has managed to finish in the first three in all o of her seven starts b bar one.

Spring Bloom wwas asmart winner aat Thirsk last time oout and, although sshe may just find oone too good, you aare guaranteed a rrun for your money aand, hopefully, a ddecent return.

KAIZER (3.05) looks a fascinating contender in a hot two-miler at York after a superb effort at Musselburgh.

Kaizer was smashed in the market just prior to the off for the shrewd Borders outfit of Alistair Whillans and was just unable to catch one on the run-in having been dropped wel l off the pace by Paul Hanagan.

It looked like a plunge just missed but the booking of the red- hot Hollie Doyle is very notable and it’s worth taking a chance on the Scottish raider. The Listed Garrowby Stakes is probably the highlight of the day’s UK action and Ed Walker can land the spoils in the shape of STARMAN (2.00).

The trainer is really pitching his charge in at the deep end here having won snugly in a much lower grade at Doncaster but he was impressive then and the fact the clever handler is going for this might be a tip in itself.

Across the English Channel, the race of the weekend is the Prix Du Moulin at Longchamp.

Six sensational animals go to post with PINATUBO (3.25) the favourite to get the job done for Charlie Appleby.

To be honest, it’s probably a race to watch given the fact the Godolphin beast should win but the fact that he is odds on makes it tough to bet against five top-class rivals.

If you are looking for one to make the forecast, go for Circus Maximus who should make the running and could only find Pinatubo too good in the last couple of furlongs.

In-form rider Doyle’ll boot home Scottish raider Kaizer in a hot York handicap
