Rice unleashes the Bull as Accies get rid of red faces after early howler

-

He’s nicknamed the Bull and Accies teenager Kyle Munro proved why as he steamed in at the back post to thunder home a dream winner on his full debut.

The 18-year- old repaid Brian Rice’s trust by ensuring the three points were heading back to Lanarkshire despite falling behind in the first minute.

The beaming teenager was on loan in the junior ranks just a few months ago.

But he stepped up to secure three precious points at the top level and his boss Rice said: “Kyle did well. He was at Clydebank on loan and credit to them because they worked away with him.

“He’s very quiet, doesn’t say much and I know he can head the ball – I was hoping it was him coming in at the end. It’s absolutely fantastic for anyone to score a winner, but to do it on your full league is something the kid will never forget.”

Livi took just 29 seconds to set this El Plastico alight as Shaun Want diverted a cross into his own net.

New boy Lars Lokotsch combined with Alan Forrest and the German’s low cutback was turned into his own net by Want.

Livi could have been three up by the 20th minute. Forrest drew a good save from Ryan Fulton before the keeper denied Marvin Bartley from close range.

But Accies slowly crept back into it thanks to their elder statesman David Templeton. His link-up play was superb and the 31-year-old even tried to chip Robby McCrorie with a Beckham-esque

lob after 38 minutes. And it was the ex- Rangers and Hearts ace that drew Accies level 11 minutes into the second half.

Former Livi defender Hakeem Odoffin thumped a header off the bar from a corner and Templeton followed up to crash a half-volley past McCrorie.

Pittman came within an inch of smashing Livi in front when his volley crashed off the underside of the bar.

But it was Accies who snared the points when Munro headed home from six yards after Templeton’s free-kick found him ghosting in at the back post.

Gary Holt slammed his side’s defending for the winner.

The Livi boss said: “You go and clear it, you go and do your job – if you don’t do it, you ain’t gonna play.

“At the end of the day you have got to have the desire to put your head in where it hurts. We have lost two soft goals.”
