Scott Fisher, 53, said he spent £ 9000 trying to save his five-year- old cockapoo, Clarence, af ter par t of his bowel was st itched incorrectly last year.
Vets4Pets described the incident as an “unfortunate error” in Clarence’s medical notes – but says it can’t be blamed for his death.
Scott said he will fight to prove otherwise in court and wants to expose a system which fails pet owners who raise concerns over vet care.
He said: “It’s a case of ‘protect the vet, not the pet’.
“Clarence was so thin, he couldn’t even get put to sleep in the normal way and they had to jag him in his heart because there was no fat left on his body.”
Dad- of- three Scott , of Glasgow’s Pollok, added: “We went to the vet in good faith and we got him back in a deplorable state.
“Then they tried to ignore the fact that what was done had any bearing on him deteriorating and dying. What we had to watch Clarence go through was horrific.”
Clarence was taken to Vets4Pets in Pollokshaws when he began to suffer digestive problems last year. The familyfa consented to a laparoscopy to determine de if he had something so lodged in his hi intestine but no blockage blo was found.
However, H the dog’s con condition deteriorated rap rapidly within a week.

Scott has since consulted an independent expert to compile a report, which states that the error during surgery was negligent.
He said: “If I can’t afford a lawyer, I’m entitled to go to court myself and speak up for Clarence. What happened to him was horrendous. My goal is to show the whole system is so unfair for people like us.
“Vets’ indemnity insurers’ only concern is the protection o f the i r pr o f e s s iona l reputation.”
Vets4Pets said: “We express our deepest sympathy to Mr Fisher for the loss of Clarence.
“We would, however, like to reiterate that the Royal Col lege of Vet er inar y Surgeons have dismissed any claims of professional misconduct or negl igent treatment by Vets4Pets.”
