UNPLAYABLE

Robbo hails Watt as County are crushed

- CRAIG SWAN AT FIR PARK

Stephen Robinson hailed Tony Watt as “unplayable” now he has found his home and full fitness.

The Motherwell striker produced a devastating allround display as the Steelmen returned from a month of inactivity to rout Ross County.

Watt opened the scoring before winning a penalty in the second period which Mark O’Hara converted.

The 26-year- old then won the corner that led to sub Calum Lang bagging a third and subsequently produced a head f lick which sent Devante Cole clear to score on his second Motherwell debut to seal the triumph.

Robinson was thrilled with his side and believes he has now got Watt on full power.

The Well boss said: “Tony was unplayable. That’s the best all round performance we’ve had from him.

“When he came in he wasn’t fit enough, although he told me he was. He wasn’t.

“Now we’ve finally got him to the levels that allow his talent to shine.

“I think he has found a home. He feels welcome and wanted and loved. We push and whip him at the same time and it’s up to Tony how far he wants to go.”

The only blot for Well was an injury to Trevor Carson.

The keeper damaged a knee making a headed clearance. Robinson, who sent on Aaron Chapman for his debut in Carson’s place, is concerned.

He said: “Trevor will have a scan and it doesn’t look great.

We just hope it’s not as bad as first feared.”

Motherwell reacted to the Carson loss in style with Watt leading the charge. He gave them the lead from Nathan

McGinley’s delightful centre in the 37th minute.

Nine minutes after the break Alex Iacovitti fouled Watt and O’Hara fired home the penalty.

Next he won the corner from which sub Lang scored then sent Cole clear to score.

Robinson added: “That performance deserves so much credit for the levels of quality at times.”
