Blades cut to shreds

-

Chelsea came from behind to take their unbeaten run to 11 games and move up to third in the table.

Frank Lampard’s side went 1- 0 down early on to bottom dogs Blades but hit back in style.

The Stamford Bridge boss beamed: “Some of the work today was really encouraging for me to see those signs.

“I am the first to keep my feet on the ground as every game is challenging.

“The players are the ones who deliver and deserve that first credit. They were amazing, all of them.

“The balance of the team was good and it’s nice to see. We must continue. I really enjoyed watching it but I know how football is.”

David McGoldrick’s neat flick gave United a surprise

ninth- minute lead but Chelsea responded with goals by Tammy Abraham and Ben Chilwell to lead before half-time.

The Blues bossed the second half and captain Thiago Silva scored his first goal for the club with a 77th-minute header.

Timo Werner added a late fourth to seal the win.

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder said: “At times my teams are naive.

“We have given away some poor goals. We have to look at ourselves.

“If you give handouts to world- class players, they will take opportunities, which they did. It’s no good opening up then as it could be any score.

“We have to plug a few gaps at the moment. We have to fight through. Nobody is going to give us anything.

“Our season won’t be decided on games against the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea. It will be against the teams around us.”
