POWER PEOPLE

TO THE Trust in L’Air du Vent

- Joe Punter

L’AIR DU VENT (12.33) can give us an early boost today with success at Exeter.

Colin Tizzard’s team are returning to form and this six-year-old looks another of his who can improve massively on his seasonal reappearance.

L’Air Du Vent was no match for The Wolf at Chepstow when third behind Olly Murphy’s charge but can reverse that form on better terms.

It’s no secret the yard wasn’t firing earlier in the term but they are slowly getting back on track. Robbie Power should get a better tune out of the horse this time.

Nick Gifford’s The Mighty Don is a threat, having looked good last time at Chepstow, but L’Air Du Vent gets the narrow vote.

It’s magic to see one of the popular veterans’ chases at Uttoxter. It is even more fascinating given the fact it’s for conditional jockeys and THE

FRESH

PRINCE (3.03) feels like a nice bet. Oliver Sherwood’s horse got fortunate when winning at Huntingdon, having been left alone in the lead at the final fence, but it was still a huge run.

The stable form is excellent, the yak has winning form on the course three years ago and conditional Harrison Beswick was on board last time to get valuable experience of his partner.

That’s key with only four pounds added for the win 12 days ago.

There are a couple of nice cards in Ireland, with the potential for a few future superstars to take a step forward.

Willie Mullins ran riot with a raft of youngsters at Gowran Park on

Friday running up a short-priced four-timer and there’s every chance he could do the same at Cork. It’s interesting that, although Navan is the better meeting, champion jockey Paul Townend is off to Cork.

Ganapathi, Appreciate It and Grand Bornand are all set to be really short and not backable.

Mullins has Yukon Lil in the Mares Beginners Chase but GIN ON LIME (2.35) may be able to win, having had a pipe opener when second to one of the Closutton contingent first time up after moving to Henry de Bromhead.

Henry’s Minella Indo cannot be punted today due to being ridiculously short but some of the ante-post quotes for the Cheltenham Gold Cup are interesting given a tasty seasonal debut at Wexford. Get ready to take some each-way odds for March if he performs here.

If you like all-weather action, ARAIFJAN (3.25) looks an interesting young contender in the sprint handicap at Wolves, having won here before.
