Anton’s staying put

-

Kalvin Orsi grabbed his first career double as Morton moved up to third after Anton McElhone was confirmed as boss until the summer.

Chairman Crawford Rae, who’s selling out to Morton Community Trust, revealed McElhone will run the team along with Chris Millar, Jim McAlister and Brian McLean.

After Orsi’s strikes made it two wins in a row since David Hopkin’s exit, McElhone said: “It’s great that we’re in place for the rest of the season and I’ll happily lead the team. I’ll do my job professionally along with the other guys.”

Orsi broke the deadlock four minutes before half- time when he fired in the rebound from a Cammy Salkeld shot.

Queens’ Rhys McCabe hit a free-kick off the underside of the bar in 73 minutes before Orsi headed in from Robbie Muirhead’s corner.

Doonhamers boss Alan Johnston said: “We’re at the bottom of the league so I’m concerned. It’s a reality check.”
