Norwich duo on the up
Scotland stars Grant Hanley and Kenny McLean are heading back to the Premier League af ter Norwich sealed promotion yesterday.
The Championship leaders booked an instant return to the top flight before they had to kick a ball yesterday as rivals Brentford, Watford and Swansea all failed to win.
That took the pressure off heading into their evening clash with Bournemouth as their goal was secured with five matches still to play.
It’s a reward for the faith the club showed in boss Daniel Farke and his players after relegation from the Premier League last summer.
Scotland stopper Hanley and midfielder McLean were both part of the squad that failed to make an impact in England’s top
GLORY stopper Hanley flight last term. But they have been key men this season in the surge to promotion and will now join international pals Andy Robertson, Scott McTominay, Kieran Tierney and John McGinn in the top flight once more.
Canaries winger Todd Cantwell led the Twitter celebrations, saying: “The come back always feels sweeter! Been some character shown by everyone involved. Back where the club belongs.”
And midfielder Melvin Sitti, who has spent the season on loan with Waasland- Beveren in Belgium, can’t wait to return to a top-flight club.
He tweeted: “What a team! What a fami ly! Congratulations guys! We’re back and we are all Canary.”
Although everyone at Carrow Road is looking forward to next season they still have plenty to play for this term as they bid to stay ahead of Watford at the top and seal the Championship title.
