ONE FOR THE TEEN

- ■ Joe Reilly

Greaneteen capped a brilliant season for trainer Paul Nicholls by bolting up in the Celebration Chase at Sandown.

Altior (9/4 Fav) looked revitalised by a first-time visor as he put in a cracking display of jumping and galloping from the front under Nico de Boinville.

However, Bryony Frost was travelling every bit as smoothly through the Grade 1 contest on the 13/2 shot who made rapid headway to take the lead three out.

The duo sealed victory with a pair of impressive leaps at the last two fences, powering up the hill to slam Altior by four lengths with Sceau Royal (3/1) third.

Champion Chase heroine Put The Kettle On didn’t look entirely at home on the right-handed track but plugged on well enough for fourth.

Frost said: “He was awesome, it’s all about getting him to settle and then he goes forward. He’s always progressing and he’s always overlooked.

“Harry Cobden gave him a fantastic ride in the Queen Mother to only just be beaten and again he was overlooked today. We carry on our 100 per cent strike-rate.

“He’s brilliant, he kept on. I knew I had to go and hunt down Altior as he looked on a real going day and I thought the only way I could really get to him is by going down the hill, not using too much petrol and letting my horse travel.

“He’s jumped brilliantly, he’s economical. He’s going to be a proper horse over 2m 4f.”

Greaneteen is now a general 12/1 shot for next year’s Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham.

Frost and Nicholls also teamed up to land the bet365 Oaksey Chase with King George hero Frodon (4/5 Fav).

The superstar made most of the running in the Grade 2 but looked booked for second when collared by Mister Fisher (15/8) on the run to the last.

However, the duo would not be denied and they gradually wore down their rival up the hill to score gamely by a neck with Born Survivor (13/2) a remote third.

Frost added: “This horse is somebody else, isn’t he? What an amazing athlete he is. He might not be the best and he might not be unbeatable but you have to admire his bravery and enthusiasm.

“What a battle! Mister Fisher was all over us but this lad won’t go down without a fight. When you have a partner like that it makes you as brave as a lion.”

Frodon is a 16-1 shot to regain his crown in the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.

Nicholls was denied a clean sweep of the big races on the card when Enrilo was

disqualified after being first past the postt in the bet365 Gold Cup.

The seven-year- old stayed on stronglyy in the closing stages under Harry Skeltonn to fend off Potterman (12/1) and Tomm Cannon by a length in the Grade 3.

However, the gelding hampered thee third-placed Kitty’s Light (9/1) leadingg to him being placed third by the stewards..

That verdict led to the Alan King-trainedd Potterman being awarded the race withh Kitty’s Light being promoted to second.

Nicholls finally completed a treble whenn Scaramanga (8/1) claimed the bet3655 Handicap Hurdle under Bryan Carver.
