Jude is good as it gets
Jude Bel l ingham has been tipped as a future England captain by his first skipper.
The midfielder, stil l just 17, has taken the Bundesliga by storm in his first season at Borussia Dortmund and he is also set to feature for England in Euro 2020.
Bellingham played for Birmingham in 2019-20 under the captaincy of Harlee Dean and his old skipper believes he can become an England great.
He said: “From where Jude was in pre-season to the development he has made now is incredible.
“I think he wi l l be England captain at some point in his career.
“England have plenty of ability in their squad but would I take him to the Euros? Yes.
“Would I start him? Yeah. He’s that good.
“When Pep Guardiola and Roy Keane say he’s the complete midfielder, they are right.
“Even if he doesn’t make the squad for the Euros he will still get plenty of caps by the time he’s finished.”
Gareth Southgate will name his final 26- man squad on Tuesday as he gears up towards the Euros, which start on June 11.
While he is adamant that Bellingham should definitely be part of that group, Dean believes big things are on the horizon for the teenager, regardless of Southgate’s decision this week.
He reckons Bellingham could be sold again within the next 15 months with Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea among those clubs currently eyeing his progress.
Dean said: “If Jude doesn’t get bought this summer, I can see one of the European giants taking him next summer.”
