Malky’s staying so cool

- Andy Newport

Malky Mackay insists he has no reason to worry about losing Regan Charles-Cook ahead of the transfer deadline.

The on-form Staggies winger blasted his way to the top of the Premiership scoring charts with his 10th goal as County stunned champs Rangers to claim a deserved point.

Both of County’s firsthal f goals came gi ft wrapped after blunders but the best present County owner Roy MacGregor could give boss Mackay would be to rebuff any suitors who come calling before the window shuts.

And McKay reckons he has nothing to fret about over the immediate future of Charles- Cook.

He said: “I have got a chairman who is very strong in what he is doing.

“Regan’s challenge at the start of the season was to

MACKAY no fears kick on from a quiet season last year. I believe in him.

“You could see what he had in his game in terms of being wide but what he didn’t have was drifting into the box for second balls.

“Once he started doing that, he has got 10 now.

“I am delighted for both wingers because I thought Joseph Hungbo really attacked Rangers. You saw how much of a threat he is.”

County have now scored seven goals in three clashes with the champions but yesterday’s point was their first tangible reward.

Mackay added: “It was down to the belief and being disciplined.

“We made the correct decisions in the final third and I am delighted we managed to get at them,”

Mackay hailed 19-yearold super sub Wright who snatched a point late on.

He said: “I’m really happy for Matthew. He is a boy who scores goals. He was at Brora in the first half of the season and was top scorer in the Highland League.”
