Nicolai is a Law breaker

-

David Law swapped a threeshot lead early on moving day for a three-shot deficit as Danish youngster Nicolai Hojgaard stole the show in the United Arab Emirates.

Hojgaard racked up eight birdies and an eagle for an eight-under 64 on day three of the inaugural Ras Al Khaimah Championship.

The 20-year-old, who rose to 20 under, will return for the final 18 holes with Scot Law for company after his 69 on the Al Hamra course.

Hojgaard two- putted from 40 feet for birdie on the last as Law walked off with a bogey six, his first dropped shot of the day.

He said: “It’s annoying to finish like that. I played pretty well until the last four holes and then I struggled.”

Bob MacIntyre is in a share of fifth place after six birdies in a bogey-free 66 left him six off the summit.

The 25-year- old said: “I have been doing stuff this season that has not been working, so this week I’ve gone back to playing golf.

“I like it. That’s shaping

the shots into holes and it works. It’s the way I know how to play golf. We’ve talked about it a lot but trying to get the perfect golf swing sometimes doesn’t fit the person.

“I feel we have worked that out and we’ve started to learn to know the way I know how to swing a club. And it’s working now”.

Tommy Fleetwood will head into the final round of the Saudi International two shots off the lead as he seeks a first win in over two years.

The Ryder Cup star recovered from an opening bogey to card a three-under 67 in Jeddah and get to 10 under, two off American leader Harold Varner III.

Fleetwood produced six birdies to cancel out three bogeys in the desert as he chases a f irst win since lifting the trophy at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in November 2019.

The Englishman said: “I got off to a bad start.

“I actually hit a perfect drive on one, was in this massive rough and made a bogey from nowhere.

“But after that I played really well.”
