DONS STUCK ON A ROAD TO HELL

Fans rage at Glass after another disaster

-

Angry Aberdeen fans targeted Stephen Glass as another dismal Dons display on the road turned up the heat on the Pittodrie boss.

His side had won just one of their last 11 games away from the Granite City and the longsuffering Red Army voiced their fury after Ayo Obileye and Alan Forrest set them on their way to another pointless trip.

Chants of “sacked in the morning” interspersed with calls for Glass to leave forthwith rang around the ground.

They did die down to an extent after Christian Ramirez set up a rousing finale.

But a last- gasp goal- line clearance ensured the Dons suffered their first defeat in Livingston for 18 years as they were dragged back into the bottom six.

Things don’t get any easier with a visit from Celtic on Wednesday followed by a Scottish Cup trip to Motherwell.

But defiant Glass insisted: “Expectations are big, players have reputations on the line and so is mine.

“I’m under pressure every day at this club and you want a team to produce resul ts and performances that don’t encourage reactions like that.

“But when you produce a performance like that you’re open to whatever’s coming.

“When they see a team that was pretty poor first-half they make their feelings known, that’s normal at a big club.”

While Glass copped flak on the sidelines, it wasn’t for the faint- hearted on the pitch either, with 13 yellow cards and a red – for Livi ’s Cristian Montano – flashed by referee Kevin Clancy.

Livingston were the better team from the off and got their reward with an eighth-minute opener from Obileye.

Bruce Anderson spun on Forrest’s cross then tried to steer a shot goalwards and

Obileye read the move to flick the bal l over keeper Gary Woods – in for the il l Joe Lewis – and into the net.

Lewis Ferguson had a strong shout for a penalty when he looked to have been pulled back by Nicky Devlin in the box but there was little to trouble Livi No.1 Max Stryjek.

Indeed, the home side could have gone in at the break further ahead but Forrest was unable to take full advantage of loose balls from Dons duo Funso Ojo and Jonny Hayes.

The in-form winger wasn’t to be denied though and just after the restart he beat the offside trap to clip an angled shot past the Aberdeen keeper.

Woods saved the Dons’ blushes when he denied Jason Holt a third, tipping the midfielder’s strike from the edge of the box onto a post and to safety.

Anderson then fai led to convert a Devlin cross as Livi continued to create chances.

But Ramirez gave the Dons – and their fans – hope when he lashed an effort high into the net in 66 minutes.

Frustrations boiled over when Ferguson and Hayes were embroiled in a melee with Scott Pittman as Clancy continued to wave around his yellow card.

He then reached for his red one when the already cautioned Montano got involved in little more than a scuf f le eight minutes from time.

The Dons pushed hard for a leveller and sub Jay EmmanuelThomas saw his shot stopped on the line among a cluster of black shirts.

And David Bates’ tentative volley from the edge of the box was too tame to trouble Stryjek.
