Fearless sends bookies running scared at Scone
Fearless (4.05) can terrify his rivals in the valuable Perth Silver Cup.
Scone Palace Park plays host to seven races with the £15,000 Class 3 event the highlight.
Seven are set to go to post over two miles and Danny Brooke’s charge has no reason to be afraid of his six rivals.
Fearless was a good winner when last sighted at Aintree and the return to two miles seemed to really suit.
Danny’s brother Henry again takes the ride having been on board for that Merseyside success and a five-pound rise may not be enough to prevent the gelding from scoring.
Gordon Elliott is one shy of saddling his 200th winner at the track and the magic milestone is likely to be reached in the opening novices’ hurdle with Enki Flacke.
However, the Irish raider is not going to be any sort of price and it’s better to wait until later in the day for more bets or go elsewhere in search of some value.
Elliott will have another short- priced one with Keepthefaithinme after a recent victory around the turns of Scone.
However, the gelding has been whacked up almost a stone for that simple success and it might be worth taking a chance against him with GONFALONIER (2.55).
In fairness, the Nicky Richards-trained yak has also been clubbed by the handicapper for a win at Perth when last seen.
It’s actually more severe than the rise handed out to Keepthefaithinme but there was just something about Gonfalonier’s triumph that suggested there might be more to come, despite the revised mark of 98.
Jumping action also takes place at Stratford and there appears little reason to desert Sarah Humphrey’s thriving Glimpse of Gold.
But JAMACHO (3.46) is also a noteworthy contender following a surprise win at Worcester last time.
Sent off at odds of 16/1, the eight- year- old was clearly not fancied but still managed to do the job and the assessor has not been harsh.
His trainer Charl ie Longsdon has Beyond the Clouds in at the top of the weights and that is not going to do the stablemate any harm.
Experience can count for plenty when it comes to juvenile hurdles and MUCANA (2.36) has bags of it going into the race.
The youngster has already had three outings with a couple of wins and a second in the book.
Of course, one of the newcomers might be something decent and the market will guide.
But, if nothing springs up as a punt, the notes are in the book for Milton Harris’ charge and the trainer is a terrific placer of his horses.
Irish action takes place at Fairyhouse and Sligo with the former staging an excellent renewal of the Group 3 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Brownstown Stakes.
Henry de Bromhead’s Star Girls Aalmal makes lots of appeal and was an unlucky fourth last time out in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot.
But Ger Lyons and champion jockey Colin Keane are also a fearsome combination and the bet is hat-trick- seeking AFFOGATO (4.15) in the seven furlong event.
