WIN NO.1 SO DEESY FOR GARY

New boss plays down top start

-

Gary Bowyer won’t get carried away despite a dream start to his first game as Dundee gaffer.

Goals from Niall McGinn, Alex Jakubiak and Lyall Cameron saw off Accies, who were down to 10 men late on after Brian Easton was red-carded.

Bowyer said: “To get a clean sheet and score three good goals in front of our home fans for the first time here at Dens – there is lots to build on.

“We are not going to get carried away but it was positive.”

Bowyer is hoping to add to his squad next week and admitted Rangers midfielder Ben Williamson is on his wanted list.

Bowyer added: “We’ve been linked with him and I know about him. I’ve been speaking to Ross Wilson to find out who is available and what can be done. He’ll certainly go on the list.”

Accies were booed off by their small group of fans and boss John Rankin said: “I fully get that they are disappointed. It is the f irst game of the sea son and we have come away from home and lost 3- 0. They have ever y right to vent their frustration but we need the fans behind us and I’m sure they will be.” Dundee, who were watched by their former striker Leigh Griffiths, broke the deadlock in the 25th minute.

The home side’s Josh Mulligan made a great run and although he was wiped out, still found McGinn on the left and the Northern Irish international drilled a low shot into the far corner. The home side doubled their advantage four minutes after the restart. Half-time sub Paul McGowan was tripped in the Accies box by Shaun Watt with referee Gavin Duncan pointing to the spot. Sub Jakubiak stepped up to conver t an emphat ic penalty.

Hamilton skipper Easton was shown a straight red for a challenge on Mulligan as he raced towards goal. Dunde e t hen added a third in stoppage time, sub Lyall Cameron scoring his first compet i t i v e goal for the club.
