Topless shoot was so scary I took Valium

Kate Moss has told how she had to take Valium to calm her nerves before a topless photoshoot with Hollywood heart- throb Mark Wahlberg.

The supermodel was working with Wahlberg, then known as Marky Mark, on an underwear campaign for Calvin Klein in 1992.

It was her first major ad shoot and Moss admitted on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs she felt “vulnerable and scared” when she was asked to take her top off.

Moss, 48, also recalls being a target of misconduct on a shoot when she was aged about 15. She said that she had to “run away” from a photo session for a bra catalogue after a man asked her to go topless.

On the show, to be broadcast at 11.15am today, she said: “He said, ‘ Take your top off’, and I took my top off. He then said, ‘ Take your bra off ’. I could feel there was something wrongg so I got my stuff and ran away. I was really shy thenn about my body but it sharpened pened my instincts.

“I can tell a wrongng ’un a mile away.”

That incident, and many others during ing her long catwalk k ca re er, had a lasting impact on Moss and she said she has passed lessons about the industry on to her 19- year- old daughter Lila, who she manages through her agency.

Moss said: “I’ve said to her, ‘ You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do. If yyou don’t want to do a shoot, or if you don’t feel comfortablcomfortable, or if you don’t want to momodel, don’t do it’. “I take careca of my models. I make susure they are with agents at shoots so when they are being taken advantageadvantag of, there is someonesomeon there to say, ‘ I don’tdon think that’s appropriate’.”ap
