IVF success for John and Chrissy
John Legend has opened up about the loss of his son – as the star this week announced he and wife Chrissy Teigen are expecting a baby. In June 2020, their boy Jack was stillborn at 20 weeks.
But this week, heartbreak turned to joy when they revealed Chrissy was pregnant.
At the time, the couple shared heartbreaking black and white photos soon after Jack’s birth. Opening up about their decision to go public, All of Me singer Jo John said: “It was difficult and I was hesitant b but I think Chrissy was really right in encou encouraging us to share it because it was powerful powe for a lot of people.
“Way more mo people than anyone realised go througthrough this and I think they feel alone. ThThey told us they felt alone. And us sharingsharin our experience helped. “I thinkthin it was a really powerful, wise decisiondecisio for Chrissy to share it. It helped a lot of people. Those experiences,experi I was able to channel throughthrou the music.
“There’sTh no real comfort and you’reyou’r always going to feel that loss.loss It kind of spreads over time, so iti doesn’t feel as heavy but you’llyo never forget it”.
Model Chrissy, 36, announced theth happy news of the couple’s rainbowra baby on Instagram on W Wednesday.
They have daughter Luna, six, andan son Miles, four.
InI February, Chrissy confirmed on social media she was going throughthr the IVF process in the hopehop of conceiving again. AlongsideA an image of her baby bump,bum she wrote: “The last few years have been a blur of emotions to say the t least, but joy has filled our home anand hearts again. One billion shots laterlate (in the leg lately, as u can see!) we have another a on the way.”
Chrissy said it has been tough to keep her pregnancypregn a secret for so long, adding that she had h been “very nervous” about every appointmentappo or scan she attended because of her past heartbreak. Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, John reflects re on his life and a career. He said: “I w was at choir rehearsal in the womb, I like to say. s
“We were raised rai in a house full of music. We had a piano, piano a drum kit. I started taking piano lessons when I was three or four, I started singingsingin in the church choir when I was seven. I’ve always loved being in front of people singing.” singing
