Son puts pressure on Bren
Tottenham......6 Leicester.........2
Son Heung-min hit a 13-minute hat-trick as Spurs punished Leicester’s latest defensive horror show and heaped more pressure on Foxes boss Brenfan Rodgers.
The South Korean sub ended a barren start to the season by coming on to curl home two fine strikes and slot in a late third.
Spurs trailed to
Youri Tielemans’ early penalty but took advantage of the Foxes’ failings at set-pieces as Harry Kane and Eric Dier nodded home from corners.
James Maddison’s fabulous first-time finish briefly drew Leicester level but Wilfried
Ndidi’s mistake allowed Rodrigo Bentancur to net then Son took over.
Victory maintained Spurs’ unbeaten start to the league as they
climbed to second. But Leicester stay bottom, still searching for their first Premier League win.
Rodgers said: “I will always fight on but I understand the game and six straight losses isn’t good for anyone.
“I thought we really dominated the game, especially in the first half. It’s individual mistakes at set-pieces.
“We continue to do every we can, we work on it every day.
“I feel for the players, 6-2 feels really harsh. I thought we played really well today and created loads of chances.
“I always do believe we can overcome it.”
Delighted hattrick hero Son said: “I couldn’t believe it when I scored.
All the frustration, disappointment and negative feeling just went. I couldn’t move so I stood still. It made me really happy.
“Football is crazy. Sometimes the ball didn’t want to go inside and three times it did today. It changes everything.”
