KILLIE NEED TO BE A BIT MORE STREETWISE

-

De r ek McI n ne s insists Kilmarnock must get streetwise if they are to steer themselves towards Premiership safety.

The Rugby Park manager was left frustrated as his side went down to a f irst- half strike at Livingston and he admitted they were the masters of their own downfall.

McInnes said: “It’s another away game where we have lost by a single goal but there wasn’t a lot in the match.

“We struggled to deal with Livingston’s physicality at times as a back four.

“We gave away too many cheap free-kicks and allowed them to put the ball into our box.

“There was a bit of naivety with that. We have lost another away game by a single goal and we need to change the narrative with that.

“We need to make sure that even when we are not at our best then we are not losing it.

“It’s an old saying but we need to be wiser and a bit more streetwise.

“On another day if we are a bit more pragmatic and streetwise then you come away with something.

“The substitutes helped us for a spell in trying to get an equaliser but we don’t want to get used to losing games.

“We want to be a winning team and if we can’t be a winning team then we need to get something for our workrate.

“We don’t feel great about ourselves after a defeat and it’s not ideal that we now have to wait for another game due to the international break.

“We need to make sure next time out that we are learning as we go along.

“I do feel that we are not far away and even if we are losing games we are not being mugged off and nobody is murdering us.”
