Future will be sorted

-

Liam Fox says he’ll find out this week whether he’s to be Dundee United’s new permanent gaffer.

The Terrors stand- in manager is the clear favourite for the job vacated by Jack Ross.

United are considering other candidates but former Livingston player Fox did his chances no harm at Ibrox yesterday.

Fox praised his side’s spirit and revealed his future is close to being sorted out.

He said: “My situation will probably be resolved in the next couple of days – one way or the other.

“I’ ll speak to Tony Asghar ( U n i t e d ’s sporting director) and the board and see where we are.

“I’ve been quite clear I’ve always seen myself being a manager at some point.

“But I’ve also said that I’m in no rush to do that.

“I have enjoyed the last

three weeks. The players and the staff have been first-class, helpful, and we will see where it goes in the next couple of days.”

Fox admitted he was cheered by his side’s spirit and attitude after fearing the worst as Gers raced into the lead. He said: “You always fear the worst going 2-0 down at a place like this but the players stood up, showed character and pushed right to the end.

“Disappointment is my overriding feeling.

“But I can’t fault the players for their attitude and application. Those are the positives but the disappointment is we have come away with no points.

“They were soft goals to lose but the response from the players was good.”

At 1- 0 down, United felt they should have had a penalty when Borna Barisic challenged Tony Watt in the box.

Fox added: “I haven’t seen the incident back but we got bodies in the correct position to ask a question of the referee.”
