Folk are queueing up to kick Phil and Holly. But they can wait out the storm
If there’s one thing we’re good at in this country, it’s building people up, then taking pleasure in knocking them down.
From Posh and Becks to Anthea Turner, and Harry and Meghan, they are some of the public figures who have at one time become public enemy No1.
It’s now the turn of Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby to face the wrath of public opinion and for the very British “crime” of (allegedly) queue jumping.
Of course, it wasn’t just any queue, it was the line to see the Queen lying-in-state at Westminster Hall.
Amid a barrage of bad press, social media outrage, hilarious memes and multiple digs from former This MMorning host Eamonn Holmes,
TVTV’s favourite duo are now facing ththat wrath.
A statement from Holly statingting ththat they were given “official pepermission to access the hahall” along with many other acaccredited broadcasters anand journalists doesn’t seseem to have quelled ththe fury.
The problem is they should hahave copped to it, put their hahands up and said we did it andnd wewe’re sorry.
Instead what we’re seeing is a mess of badly worded statements, threats of lawyers and even rumours of Holly
A badly tweet worded pas or a faux witF you can get d cancelle
quitting This Morning due to lackack of support from producers.
There’s a reason Holly and Phil are two of the country’s highestpaidpaid hostsh – they come in to our hhomes every day, we trutrust them and we’ve laulaughed and cried with them.
From Phillip coming out to Holly being hungoverhung live on air followingfollow the National Television Awards, we see ththem ass celebritieslbit rather than presenters.
They’re now being publicly shamed in a social media age where a badly worded tweet or a faux pas can get you cancelled – no matter who you are.
It has been a bitter pill for them to swallow as they’re experiencing something they’ve never had – bad press.
They’ve made the fatal mistake of becoming the news rather than talking about it and that’s very hard to control.
But they will ride this out. They are both huge commodities to ITV and the broadcaster will not allow them to crash and burn.
Expect to see favourable pieces on the duo popping up as both their management teams go into overdrive to protect their brands.
