CORRIE’S ACID ATTACK SHOCK

Daisy targeted by stalker Justin in the Rovers

- Laura Armstrong

CORRIE bosses are to air a shocking storyline which will see Daisy Midgeley targeted in a sickening acid attack.

Viewers have seen Daisy, who is played by Charlotte Jordan in the ITV soap, tormented by stalker Justin (Andrew Still) in the run-up to her wedding to Daniel Osbourne.

Soap insiders told how the troubled character’s obsession with Daisy will see him crash into the Rovers Return and hurl corrosive liquid at her.

And the storyline has won praise from charity Women’s Aid, who work with acid attack victim Katie Piper, for raising awareness of the vile crime.

A show insider said: “In the weeks to come, Justin’s dark fixation with Daisy will build and build, until finally he confronts her in the Rovers – and throws acid at her.

“It is a truly horri fying scene and will leave viewers stunned.

“The bosses felt it was an important topic to highlight, but great care has been taken to make sure it has been handled sensitively and responsibly.”

The hard-hitting storyline comes amid the soaring number of acid attacks in recent years – with London named “the acid attack hotspot of the Western World” in 2019.

High- profile cases include that of Katie, who was left fighting for her life in 2008 after ex Daniel Lynch arranged for Stefan Sylvestre to douse her in acid.

In 2017, Arthur Col l ins – the former boyfriend of reality star Ferne McCann – was found guilty of f ive counts of grievous bodily harm and nine of actual bodily harm after spraying Sophie Hall with acid.

Head of Media for Women’s Aid Teresa Parker last night said: “Stor yl ines l i ke thi s ra i se important awareness of issues like stalking and the very real danger it presents.”
