Del livid at Kyle VAR red

pitch- side monitor. And after watching reruns of the incident, Beaton upgraded the caution to a straight red card.

McInnes branded it a “ridiculous” decision and has vowed to launch an appeal. He said: “There was no sense that it was a bad challenge.

“You can sniff a red card, there’s a sense that something’s happened which makes you feel a bit uneasy.

“John [Beaton] deals with it at the time. He’s sstanding right next to it. WWe move on. I didn’t even tthink it was a yellow.

“They’re in a sanitised rroom over 50 miles away wwatching that over and oover again, telling the ref: ‘ You need to have a look at tthat, that’s a red card.’

“The game’s gone mad. ThThat’s not a red card. I’m ssick to death of this VAR.

“It was our turn this wweek, there will likely be ssomeone else in Scotland today who has suffered as well. An experienced referee dealt with the incident. Yet it goes all the way to them and they put pressure on him to look at it differently. It’s not a red.

“You can sense the anger and frustration from ever ybody from a Kilmarnock point of view.

“But I think there was real surprise and shock from a Hibs perspective. There was no running around from players going to the referee looking for a red card.

“You know a red- card offence. You can sniff it at the game. It’s absolutely ridiculous.”

Vassell’s dismissal made Kilmarnock’s task even harder as they tried to make up for a first- half display McInnes admits wasn’t good enough.

He added: “We’re coming to Easter Road against a strong Hibs squad. They’re going for a European place and we need to be far more competitive.”
