Gaffer is tops at 6 therapy

Mark O’Hara reckons the fact that St Mirren would be disappointed if they didn’t achieve a top-six finish is testament to the work of manager Stephen Robinson.

That’s despite a recent injury blitz which has seen the Buddies lose strike duo Jonah Ayunga and Alex Greive to longterm injuries as well as left-back Scott Tanser.

Stand-in skipper O’Hara believes the team have enough togetherness to reach their target come the end of the campaign.

Speaking exclusively to MailSport, he said: “It’s brilliant working for the manager. The players love working for him. His methods and his understanding of the game are second to none.

“I think when he’s recruiting players, it’s characters or certain types. He’s particular about who he brings into the group because he knows he can get the best out of them.

“It’s a pleasure playing for him, everyone knows their job, we trust in the manager. Looking at us now, that’s got to be our target. We’ve got a massive run of games.

“We believe in ourselves and that we can get a good number of points in that table and establish ourselves as a top-six team.

“That hasn’t been done before by St

Mirren. We want to be the team to achieve that this season.

“I think our target has changed since the start of the season but, with the squad we have and the performances we’ve put in, we really should see ourselves in that top six.

“That adds a bit of pressure but pressure is good.

“If we didn’t achieve it then we would be disappointed along with the fans and that’s what everyone is striving for together.

“The club is definitely on the up and it does show that it’s come a long way from previous seasons. This will be the future that we’re pushing for this every season.”
