Baz: My Dons still so fragile

- ■ David McCarthy

Barry Robson was left frustrated his Aberdeen team were unable to lay a glove on Celtic – despite impressing him with their second-half show after a nightmare start.

The interim boss saw the Dons go down 2-0 after only 12 minutes but dug in only to lose another two goals late in the game.

Robson said: “I’m really frustrated with how fragile we are. With previous games you could see that.

“Conceding the early goal put the game plan out and we struggled a wee bit after that. The second one came when they started to pull us about a wee bit.

“We got them in at half-time and settled them down and we came out a lot better in the second half. I understand they’ve had a few knocks and it hasn’t totally gone.

“We had to keep Celtic out for a bit longer than we did.”

Robson’s future remains

FRUSTRATED

Robson uncertain as the Pittodrie board ponder their next managerial move but it’s clear he wants the chance to implement his style on the squad.

He added: “We’ve already seen what’s been put out there by the board. I’m all right with that.

“You see the frustration in me. I really want to come here and have a go.

“In the last two games I really liked what I saw in them and it was frustrating that fragility was still there. But we’ll get past that.

“I want an Aberdeen team coming down here really at it and that takes time. They’ve had a hard time of it. I’m just here and I’m trying to help them.

“What I saw was boys who wanted to fight and show a bit of character and were brave.

“Celtic are a top team. I played in some good Celtic teams here and they are a top team.

“The pleasing thing for me is in the second half we hung in there and fought.

“I said to them, ‘Boys, let’s get ready for the next game, let’s go and do it and start moving up that table’.”
