Kate Ka Forbes’ baby daughter Naomi has ha galvanised her determination to become be first minister and offer Scotland’s Sc children a better future.

The finance secretary, who gave birth bi in August, insists she is the only candidate ca with the experience to grow the th economy.

She said: “At the end of the summer, I hhad a gorgeous little baby girl. She’s now no six-months-old, sitting up and chattering ch away. I look at her in hope that th ‘she must see better days’.

“My vision for her and my vision for Scotland is simple – a country where tolerance is the ruling ethic, differences are welcomed, fairness is the norm, equality of opportunity is the birthright of every child, poverty becomes history, and the rule of law applies to everyone.

“Scotland is at a major crossroads and the choices that are made in the next few weeks will have a profound impact on our future and our children’s future.

“I firmly believe Scotland needs a radical new vision to inspire hope and confidence in these difficult days. That is why I am standing.”

Kate, 32, a qualified accountant, added: “My number one priority is a growing economy that enables us to eradicate poverty and put our public services on a sustainable footing.

“It is scandalous that as an energyrich country, we are home to so many families that can’t afford to pay their bills. I want to tackle that and get the powers from Westminster to do it.

“I’m the only candidate with a strong grip on the economy and our finances. I want to lead Scotland into better days. I have a vested interest in achieving this – not least for the sake of my daughter’s future.”
