New sexual harassment complaint
Jordan Linden has now been accused of forcing himself on a member of his own party and sexually harassing him for the past seven years.
A new complaint has been made to party chiefs about the alleged serial sex pest, claiming he made unwanted advances towards the man during a foreign trip in 2016.
It’s now the third time claims of sexual harassment, assault or inappropriate sexual behaviour have been made against Linden in recent years – yet he remains an SNP councillor.
The alleged victim also accused Linden of boasting to other councillors about giving the man **** *** at an SNP conference.
In a complaint sent to SNP compliance officer Ian McCann and national secretary Lorna Finn three weeks ago, the alleged victim asked them to launch an investigation.
His email, dated February 17, 2023, said: “I have been informed that Councillor Linden has spread misinformation of me apparently receiving **** *** from him at a party conference a number of years ago.
“This is categorically untrue and to learn that he is telling opposition councillors we have had sexual relations, I have to say I am absolutely affronted that a member who should know better after his recent behaviour is lying and disclosing information that isn’t even true and has potential to damage my reputation and the reputation of the party.
“I am also deeply concerned of the effect this could have on my family, my partner and my reputation… if this false information were to become public.”
The man told SNP HQ that he had told Tracey Carragher, Linden’s replacement as SNP group leader in North Lanarkshire Council, about the sexual assault last year but she took no action.
He wrote: “I found Cllr Carragher to be somewhat disinterested and not very forthcoming with support, advice or any kind of comfort.”
He claimed she was more concerned on keeping the story from getting out.
Sources told the Sunday Mail the complainer has had no response from HQ chiefs and now fears he will be punished.
The SNP said:
“Any complaints of a disciplinary nature will be assessed by the national secretary in line with the member code of conduct.”
